6:06: OBU leading scorer Princella Smith on the end of the bench in street clothes this evening, serving a suspension. Mariesha Piggee is on the bench for the Sugar Bears, but she's actually in uniform and should play at some point. Micaela starting in her place again tonight.

6:08: Caronica yelling "And 1" before her shots even go in is quickly becoming one of my favorite Sugar Bear traditions.

6:13: Piggee in and has her first post-concussion rebound, free throw attempt, and foul. That's about as all-purpose as they come.

6:15: Tech transfer Sarah Hart hits a 3 to put OBU up 11-6. And now UCA gets its first non-Caronica points off a Brittany Greer bucket.

6:18: Victoria Richards steps to the line and sinks a pair, coming off what I think may be the greatest play known to man.

6:21: Micaela sinks a baseline jumper to give UCA its first lead since 20 seconds in. 18 seconds later, Kim Beverly takes care of that with a 3.

6:22: OBU Sports Information Director Chris Babb just went to the bathroom for the 19th time this evening. That's just a rough guess. I say 19, give or take ... oh, 19. He does have his special bladder-formula Ritalin ready to go, though.

6:24: If I'm ever in charge of of running games at a university, the first thing I'm doing is taking the trap set and the electric guitars from the band and burning them. There will not be an in-game rock concert in the Goff Coliseum.

6:27: Your GSC West Player of the Week Lauren Williams with an impressive feed to Vic on a fast break. Many of the guys on press row here thought the pass was on a crash course with the lobby, but the ball got to Richards in stride on the
bounce.

6:30: 4:36 left in the first half and the Sugar Bears trail 21-19. Coach Seals doesn't seem one bit happy about it, either.

6:34: Just about the time I get ready to type "the Sugar Bears are down six and playing like crap" they go and get a reverse layup from Lauren off a nice pass from Renita, then Renita gets a steal and they get a 3 from Micaela to pull within one.

6:35: OBU up five with 30 seconds left, the Sugar Bears' shot selection can best be described as "rapid".

6:42: Live at Vining Arena ... SHERYL CROW and the OBU Marching Band!!! IIIIIIIII WANNA SOAK UP THE SUNNNNNN!!!! I WANNA TELL EVERYONNNNNNNEE ... to stop playing. At the Goff Coliseum, you'd either have a dance team at midcourt with music blasting over the PA, or an intense game of goat basketball going.

6:53: Arkansas Tech 45, SAU 18 at the half. "Biley resigned at halftime" -- UCA Assistant SID Cody Usher

6:56: A member of OBU's band is quite pleased with himself after drawing something loosely resembling a can and writing "CHE Cola" on it. He's been holding it up waving it around a good 10 minutes. Maybe before the game's over he'll figure out something for Kellogg cereal and Piggee's pork chops.

7:04: He's still holding it up, begging somebody other than me to look at it. Oddly enough, nobody's really amused. Sugar Bears down 40-34 with 13:32 left.

7:05: 42-34. Wait, no, 37. Piggee hits a 3. And now gets a steal, and now mak... nevermind. Alicia Kellogg called for a foul right before another bucket.

7:08: Tiffany Dodson running monologue ... "*@#&# @##@(*& @#*( #@(*&@# @## @))*& &@& @&@. @#(&# @&# @@&@(@, @(&*#@ @*(@ @())), @&)@^!).

7:11: To put this in football terms, in the last four minutes there have been 37 fumbles, 17 false start penalties, 28 offsides penalties, 5 delay of games, and 2 holdings. Also, in the last four minutes, there have been exactly 2 points scored between the two teams – a layup by Renita where she made Dodson spin around four times and say more dirty words. OBU still leads 42-39 with 9:00 left.

7:15: And we've got a Willie Hopson sighting. And we've also got an Emily Nichols sighting in the lane ... for eight seconds. I'm not making that up, either. Cody counted, I watched.

7:20: A nice Muzack-style rendition of what might be "Back in Black" by the OBU band. At the Goff Coliseum, purple teams would play "Purple Rain", not "Back in Black." Any playing of "Back in Black" would result in a shooting.

7:23: Dodson with 2 FTs to put OBU ahead 49-45 with 4:00 to go.

7:24: Dodson hit with an iffy block call. Responds with a ... "@#)(* @)#* @*#@ ()&##@(&* @#&(*" . Sugar Bears missing more FTs.

7:25: And more. Caronica gets one, finally.

7:27: Dodson hits a 3 to put OBU up 8. Dobbins answers right back. OBU up 5 with 2:46 to go.

7:33: 54-52 OBU lead with 1:19. The Lady Tigers call a timeout and will inbound in the backcourt momentarily. Sugar Bears had the press slapped on a second ago – I assume they'll come back out with it. Dobbins, Williams, Randle, Oden, Richards in for UCA.

7:40 Sugar Bears down 1 with Dooley at the line for 2 with 10.1 left. First good, second good. 60-57 OBU. UCA timeout with 6.5 to go.

7:42: Okay so here it goes ... to Randle, who was given the wide-open path to the bucket for the 2. UCA was down three, though. 60-59, timeout. OBU ball with 3.0 left. Do we get a Tech repeat here? Randle knocks it out of bounds, 2.1 left. Victoria knocks it out with 1.4 left. No foul at the end, Sugar Bears fall 60-59.

7:54: Seals isn't one bit pleased. Not even close. And, I guess I can't blame her. That wasn't their best played game of the season by any stretch of the imagination. Sloppy the entire time, never any rhythm, lots of bad shots. If you didn't make it to Arkadelphia, don't be too tore up about it.

Giving this one away really puts a kink in the plans of trying to keep up with the Hendersons and Deltas of the world.
