Sugar Bears vs Lady Riders Running Diary

6:07: Sugar Bears rolling with a different starting lineup tonight, with Renita finally all the way out the doghouse – getting the start alongside Caronica, Micaela, Oden, and Victoria.

6:08: 3:28 into the game and SAU finally gets on the board as Latrice Booker gets one of those 3-point plays. Sugar Bears lead 8-3.

6:10: 129 people in attendance ... for the game. Another five are up on the terrace for that important Who's Who business.

6:12: Allicia Kellogg throwing people around right in front of SAU's bench. How's it feel, eh?

6:14: Two consecutive airballs for SAU. And Kellogg hits a three, 13-3 UCA. Oh, and another one for Micaela. 16-3. I guess it's about time for somebody to get coldcocked.

6:15: Yess!! SportStar Management ... GET IN THE GAME!!!

6:17: Kellogg with a career-high 38 points already tonight. 21-5 UCA with 12:36 left in the first half. I wonder if they're still not going to make the tournament.

Also, Allyson Sample is in uniform tonight but didn't seem to be getting around much in pre-game. The entire Delta Zeta sorority is in attendance for support – much to the dismay of every man in attendance. Between Who's Who on one end and the DZs on the other ... well, no wonder the crowd seems distracted.

6:22: Sugar Bears lead 27-7. 29-7 now, as Piggee keeps begging to get decapitated.

6:26: If there's anything bad to say about the Sugar Bears' performance so far, it's that they're 2-74 in the lane.

6:30: For the first time in three weeks, Caronica Randle has gone more than 18 seconds without picking up a pair of fouls.

6:33: I wonder if SAU's football coach, Steve Quinn, shows up the first week of basketball practice to teach the cut block.

6:35: 35-17 Sugar Bears as Kellogg continues her domination.

6:40: Sugar Bears still up 20, 41-21, as Caronica barrels over somebody for a layup. In most other games, she would've been whistled for four fouls ... on that play.

6:45: Halftime, 46-24 Sugar Bears. Barring a ridiculous collapse, this one should be in the bag – along with a trip to Tupelo.

7:05: Caronica with her first audible "and 1" call of the night. She's got 11 points, leading the way so far. Micaela with 10, and Kellogg with 9. Sugar Bears lead 52-36.

7:08: Just got off the phone with one of my roommates who happened to misplace $100 last night. This would probably explain the extra cash that ended up in the poker tournament pot. He might've won that right back anyway, until his girlfriend called and derailed his night, wasting a huge chip lead to spend four hours getting griped at.

And no, I'm not bitter.
