Remember how Latrell Sprewell had to feed his family? Remember how $7 million a year wasn't enough to do that? How fat is Spree's family? I've seen Ceso Sprewell, his nephew or cousin or whatever, who plays at Harding and he doesn't look like he'd put down too much food. Anyway ... It seems that Spree hasn't been able to feed himself or his family and he's getting not only hungry but angry.
ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan had some talks with Spree's publicist and agent in efforts to check up on Spree's status, but couldn't track down the man himself. So, he went straight to the source and showed up Spree's doorstep one day.
Evidently the two have some history together, based on what Sheridan states in the article, dating back to Spree's playing days in New York. So, it's not like they're complete strangers. Now, whether or not they were pals when Spree was a Knick and if Sheridan was covering the team or whatever, I don't know. But you'd figure if they had an acrimonious relationship he wouldn't be showing up at the mercurial star's door.
Alas, Sheridan rings the doorbell and gets something that falls just short of the warmest of welcomes. Here's his account, borrowed directly from his story:
RIVER HILLS, Wis. -- Latrell Sprewell answered his front door with his face contorted into his unmistakable scowl, his anger barely under control as he made it clear he was not accepting visitors and was in no mood to talk.
"Get off my property right now or I'll send someone out there to take your head off!"

Maybe Sheridan shouldn't have came to dude's house and rang his doorbell without prior notice, but at the worst it's a very slight inconvenience for Spree (how hard is it to go open the door?). But Spree really showed his true colors acting like a complete jackass. There are ways to go about declining interviews. A simple "Man, I don't feel like talking." would be fine. Telling somebody you're going to send someone out here to take my head off? Well, it's no wonder Spree hasn't found work.
And, I hope he doesn't. Not that I want his kids to starve or anything, but I wouldn't mind if he does. If he gets real hungry he can go ea.... nevermind.
