8:08 p.m. - Well, we're about 5 minutes away from the men's game. Here are some women's GSC scores: CBU 66, Harding 63 and OBU knocked off South Region No. 1 Henderson 58-56.
8:13 p.m. - Here's a men's score too UAM 55, SAU 50.
8:25 p.m. - UCA got off to a 6-0 start. Jeremy Richardson then ripped off four straight. He's since ripped off six more points and he trails the Bears 14-10. However, Victor Brown has scored four straight and the Statesmen lead 16-14.
8:27 p.m. - Stephin Booth just tied the game with a dunk, 16-16.
8:29 p.m. - LeMar Phillips just drew an offensive foul then thanked the ref with a high five. Aubrey Bruner hit a jumper and Brown scored again, 18-18.
8:30 p.m. - Bruner's not scared to shoot. He put up a three, missed, but then got back and tipped a Delta State pass away. Also, quite a few members of the football team are out tonight, they must be Barrett Baber fans. He'll be the halftime entertainment. I wish we could bring you a live feed.
8:33 p.m. - I guess the Delta State coaches are fans of AA high school basketball, they're wearing polo shirts. I'm not sure I've ever seen a college coach wear a polo shirt. Go D2. DSU 24, UCA 20.
8:41 p.m. - Delta State just got the lead back when Johnson hit a 3 to make it 27-26. Johnson is unique. He's 6'7", 256 lbs. and he can play inside and out.
8:47 p.m. - With 13.4 seconds left in the half UCA leads 32-29. Fred Campbell hit the Bears third-straight 3 to give them the lead.
8:48 p.m. - And at the half UCA still leads 32-29. If Barrett Baber is performing at the half, he sure is slow at getting set up.
8:51 p.m. - The men's soccer team is getting some love now here at the half. They're getting plaques for their participation in the NCAA regionals this year. Here are some halftime stats: Darryl Jones leads the Bears with 14 points, Campbell and Joey Cortez each have five. Richardson has 13 for DSU, Johnson has pitched in 10. The Bears are shooting 52 percent from the field, DSU is shooting 46.2 percent. The Bears are 5-of-8 from the 3-point line, good for 62.5 percent.
8:56 p.m. - Well, sad as it is, it looks like UCA's own Barrett Baber is not going to making it out for the performance. That's a shame. Also interesting that you book talent from from campus and can't even rely on it.
8:58 p.m. - UCA president Lu Hardin just got his usual "We Love You Lu" from the State Hall Hecklers. Just imagine how much love the Hecklers would get if they'd come to both the Sugar Bears and Bears games.
9:00 p.m. - The newest Denver Bronco, Landon Trusty, is in the house chasing his daughter around the court. I tell you what, he looks like he can play. Everytime he's back at the Center of Learning he appears to be slimmed down. Looks like Josh just got the exclusive interview too... exciting.
9:02 p.m. - So, we didn't get Barrett Baber, but we are being treated to the UCA's band rendition of "Smooth Criminal"... the band is the world's dangeroust pep band.
9:08 p.m. - With 18:04 left in the game, DSU has scored seven straight and leads 36-32. UCA called a timeout to get things straightened out.
9:10 p.m. - I forgot to mention that UCA offensive linemen Jeremy Ford won a free GSC Tournament pass at halftime. During the women's game UCA VP of Communications Tommy Jackson's wife came away with a free pass. Stephin Booth just cut the DSU lead to 38-35.
9:13 p.m. - UCA has forced two straight turnovers and are trailing by one, 40-39. They can take the lead on this possession.
9:14 p.m. - The Bears took the lead off a Cortez jumper, 41-40.
9:15 p.m. - Phillips pushed the UCA lead to 44-40 with a 3-pointer. UCA is on a 11-2 run.
9:17 p.m. - Make that a 14-4 run. Bruner hit a 3 with 12:57 left to make it 47-42 UCA.
9:20 p.m. - Delta State continues to turn the ball over and the Bears have taken the lead to 49-42 with 11:50 left to go. That's a 16-4 run now.
9:26 p.m. - UCA has increased its run to 17-4 and lead 50-42 now.
9:31 p.m. - DSU finally started hitting a few buckets and holding on to the ball, but not before the Bears made it a 19-4 run. But after trading a couple baskets the Bears lead 56-46.
9:38 p.m. - Well, the Statesmen have went on a little run themselves. They have scored the last nine points and with 3:56 to go trail by just one, 56-55.
9:42 p.m. - DSU just took the lead with a turnaround jumper from Johnson. 57-56 DSU. Richardson just increased the lead to three, 59-56. The Okra are on a 13-0 run.
9:46 p.m. - Campbell just got lit up, but the official decided to call a travel rather than the rather obvious foul. And for the first time in my four years covering the team things have flown out of the crowd onto the floor. I almost threw things.
9:48 p.m. - By the way, the Bears trail 61-58 with 41 ticks left.
9:50 p.m. - It's now 62-58 DSU. Darryl Jones tried to draw a foul on a 3-pointer to no avail, and he missed the shot. DSU missed a pair of free throws.
9:52 p.m. - Well, Delta State wins one going away, 64-58.
